Course Schedule and Enrolment
Summary
This is an introductory course, aimed at people with little or no experience of beekeeping, but also suitable for people wishing to 'convert' from conventional beekeeping practices. Learn about small-scale, sustainable, chemical-free beekeeping, involving minimal disturbance to the bees and more time devoted to observing and learning from them. Beekeeping simplified and made accessible to all, including people with disabilities, as there is no heavy lifting involved.

Participants will learn about:
- The nature of honeybees: the colony as super-organism
- The principles of 'natural beekeeping'
- The construction and installation of a top bar hive
- Basic hive management
- What to look out for at the hive entrance
- Bee handling and colony inspection
- Swarming and what to do about it
- Recognition of pests and diseases
